Wilding Butler have appointed Martyn Lambourne as Contracts Director. Martyn started his career in 1983 as an apprentice stonemason. After three years of training he became a fully qualified stonemason before quickly progressing to managing building projects.
He has worked on several prestigious projects including work at Windsor Castle, Chichester Cathedral, Blenheim Palace and Buckingham Palace. He recently managed the refurbishment and restoration of the tallest freestanding stone column in the world, the Monument in London, originally built to commemorate the Great Fire, which devastated the City of London in 1666.
Martyn’s directorship with Wilding Butler prevented him from seeing the project through to completion. He commented “It’s always disappointing not to finish a project, particularly one of this status, but I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to work as a Director at Wilding Butler. I’m really looking forward to the challenge ahead.”
One of Martyn’s first projects will be to complete the construction of a hall of residence for 36 students at Treloar College near Alton. It is one of Wilding Butler’s largest current projects with a value approaching four million pounds
